WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE A PARTNER?
Many people begin learning how to dance without a partner. In many cases, they find a partner - someone who has the same goals and learning style - along the way. In other cases, he or she may choose to continue learning on their own, simply partnering with a teacher. Whatever your preference, having a partner is never a pre-requisite for learning how to dance.
The most relaxed way to introduce yourself to dance is to attend one of our parties. These take place on a monthly basis in our studio, and are a great way to enjoy a social atmosphere while learning a few steps in an easygoing, low-pressure way. On many occasions, one of our staff will lead an introductory lesson at the beginning of the evening, so you can pocket a few new steps before the general dancing begins.
Our group classes are also a wonderful way to learn to dance in a social setting. Many people come without partners, and the instructor will adapt the class depending on who is in attendance, their level, and their personal style. Sometimes, he or she will have students rotate partners, so as to become comfortable dancing with different people.
Finally, private lessons are an excellent way for those who want to advance in their dancing at a more rapid pace. Students receive one-on-one attention as they work with a teacher, and can improve quickly in their technique, styling, etc. The student may also choose to dance pro-am with a teacher, in which the teacher partners the student in competition.
